Great sound.. but subwoofer disconnects.

After a few months my subwoofer started to randomly disconnect for a few seconds and now it has completely shut off and I need to reboot the entire system before it starts working again. Is there a way to fix the subwoofer issue? I really love the design and the sound output but I cant live with it not working..

No matter where I place the wireless subwoofer it randomly disconnects and you get no bass sound. Its frustrating because when it DOES work it sounds great.

Big sound

Brought the SN8YG in early 2021 and right out of the box I was impressed. I have the bar in my movie room which is approximately 13 wide and 30 long with a 8ft ceiling. The SNY8G system easily fills the room with satisfying audio and provides a cinematic experience I dont have the rear speakers and this system sounds great without them it must be awesome with the rears added. Tragedy struck earlier in December 2022 and my sub failed. I contemplated getting another system with a more traditional setup with tower speakers a receiver etc. however I frankly did not want all that equipment in my space as well as pay an exorbitant cost to get the equipment. The SN8YG is a great system that I did not want to discard so I called LG and they assisted with a repair of my sub woofer and my system is back thumbing and rumbling again So if you want a small system with a big sound get the SN8YG you will not be disappointed

Great sound deep base fills a small / med room with standard ceiling height. Subwoofer disconnects sometimes but comes back on a few seconds later. Offers google assistant but I did not choose to set that up.

Subwoofer Stopped Working

My subwoofer stopped working conveniently after the 12 month manufacturers warranty expired. The sub will not pair to the sound bar anymore. Not one troubleshooting measure has worked that Ive been able to find. I see there are multiple reviews referring to the same issue and wish I wouldnt have made the same mistake. Ive contacted customer service three times about getting a repair done and Ive been referred to 2 places that dont even repair LG home entertainment devices. Waste of time and money.

Bought the sound bar and sub combo 1.5 months ago. About 2 months ago I noticed the sub would disconnect. At first I thought no big deal I would just link it back up and it would work again. It started happening more often to where I would have to unplug the sub and plug it back in before it would link. Then it would disconnect daily until it finally will not do anything. Only makes a discharge sound when the sub is unplugged. Sounds like a capacitor discharge. The sub was always plugged into a surge protector along with other electronics no problems with any other device. I contacted LG for assistance and got no help since the manufacturer warranty is only 1 year. Had to send a copy of my original receipt to be considered for a 1 time warranty repair. Was told I would be notified with a decision within 3 to 5 days. It has been weeks. I have called back once for any updates but got zero. I purchased a 65 inch LG C9 when the sound bar at the same time thinking it would be a great package. The TV has been great. However I am very upset with the sound bar and with the customer service. At first I offered to take it to a service center if LG would repair at no cost. I never write reviews but this time I feel I should and am due a new sub for my sound bar or a new sound bar system to replace the one I have that is no good at this point. I will give a little time for a response. I am leaning towards no longer purchasing any LG products after this experience a surround system should last a lot longer than 1.5 years.

After a little more than a year the sub woofer stopped working. Of course the factory warranty was up and I had to send the whole unit back for repairs. LG charged me for the repair but was kind enough to send a box to ship it. Sending unit back hopefully the repair will be done quickly.

Horrible sound bar horrible customer service

I bought this brand new from Best Buy 2020. I put in my theater and used it maybe 5 times over the years until I go to turn it on and the subwoofer does not power on. Conveniently right after the LG warranty expires. LG customer service told me there is nothing they can do but they sent me a phone number for a repair shop 2 hours away from me that didnt have a working phone number. Never buy LG sound bar. My JBL sound bar has been working for 5 years with no issues.

Sub never properly worked. Always cut in and out hundreds of reviews had this problem and no fixes. Then 15 months after cutting in and out continues the sub just disconnected and never repaired. Nothing has worked to this point. This is a rip off and it never worked properly.

I purchased this unit 15 months ago everything seem to be working fine until one day the sub woofer would not power on and quit working all together. The unit only comes with a one year warranty. LG would not fix the sub woofer out of warranty and I have had to purchase the parts to fix the unit my self.

Crisp sound and design

I bought LG86UN85 86 TV at 11/2020 It was so fantastic that all family love it and half a year later someone introduced me LG SN8YG sound bar we bought it without hesitation because of LGs brand. Consequently Its superb quality of sound delivered overwhelmed the family again. We pretty much enjoy its crisp sound effect at all musical circumstances plus I live its slender sound bar design and large subwoofer as well.

By looking at numerous reviews where the subwoofer stopped working after a year it seems there is an issue with the subwoofer. My subwoofer just stopped working no power after 14 months. Since I cannot find subwoofer in stores anymore I am stuck with this awful soundbar in my living room.

I bought the LG SN8YG model and the subwoofer will not power on. It failed two months after the warranty expired. The remaining sound bar sounds terrible without the subwoofer. This wasnt even used excessively.

I had this soundbar for a whopping 15 months before it died. More specifically the subwoofer died. It wont power on and I cant pair it manually or otherwise. The only reason I gave it two stars is because while it worked it sounded incredible.

This product breaks itself with a software update. Never before have I experienced such inept design from LGs forcing you to set up the device with Google Home to their subpar soundbar app that pushes broken software updates rendering the subwoofer useless. I have tried sending this item back to LG for repair and they sent it back in the exact same state. It just attempted to update its software again and sure enough is still broken. I will never buy another LG soundbar.

Awesome sound but quality questionable.

We purchased this soundbar system a little over a year ago The quality of Audio is Amazing it sounds like a premium quality sound system but unfortunately we had this system in the living room with out 65 inch LG Oled TV that we barely use just because we have another LG 65 Nano tv in the room and suddenly out of nowhere the subwoofer stopped working. It died completely and please note that this system has been used maybe 10 times in 1 year. Now we are stranded with no warranty because its been over a year and stuck with a brand new subwoofer that doesnt work.

I truly wish I could write a raving review. Unfortunately I cannot. The sound bar and subwoofer makes irregulars sounds and popping noises periodically. I have communicated with customer service to have the issue resolved. All they advised me to do was restart the system which I fell is only a delay tactic instead of offering a meaningful solution. I will be contacting them again.

Great Sound Bar... while it works

Interesting that I received a review request from LG for the SN8YG Audio Sound Bar that I purchased on January 30 2021 that is now in an LG repair facility as of last week. It has been really nice and sounds great as long as it works. Seems the subwoofer got tired of coming on and joining the party. Luckily it was still under warranty. If everything goes well I will be happy to jump the rating up to 5-Stars. So far the LG Warranty Service process has been great and hopefully continues to impress me in this process. Show me some love LG

Sub Woofer extremely weak

Sub Woofer that comes with this sound bar is extremely weak. Have to play things on the Bass Blast setting and have the Bass level turn all the way up to get even a minimal thump. Ill be returning this thing.

Upset annoyed and upset again

I am beyond upset. I love LG products and this one died right after the warranty expired. It looks like an update was pushed up or something and now the bar keeps reading the same error: Unplug woofer. I cannot tell you how many forums I went onto what havent I done to trouble shoot this Ive tried it all. Called LG Customer Service which has been amazing otherwise and she just kept asking us to unplug and replug it different ways and then gave a number for a person who doesnt even fix speakers. So the soundbar works. But its kind of useless without the Woofer. Idk why its bricked but its bricked. And it was SO expensive I remember thinking well its LG so it should last. NOPE. Bought in Aug 2020 dead by Dec 2021.

I purchased this unit because of the Meridian sound and it worked great for 14 months and the subwoofer failed and of course it is out of warranty and I didnt purchase the extended. I wish I had done some research on this surround system before I purchased it. As I read several reviews this appears to be a common issue with the subwoofer failing after 1 year.
