Premium image quality from an ultra-compact body

The RX0 II is the ideal life-sharing companion. It captures stunning images, even in dim light, with the powerful 1.0-type sensor and low-distortion ZEISS® Tessar T* lens, and it lets you share them easily with your smartphone. It also features internal 4K-movie recording, impressive image stabilization, an improved 20-cm minimum focus distance, and a 180 °-tiltable LCD screen.

Rugged by design, built to perform

Reflecting the camera's robust construction and go-anywhere functionality, it sports a simple and practical ribbed design, with clean lines and no unnecessary protrusions. The extra super duralumin body is dependably rigid but light in weight.

Fits in your pocket, and in your life

Beautiful, high-resolution movies

Internal 4K movie recording with full pixel readout

The RX0 II lets you record 4K movies with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, using 1.7x oversampling to help produce stunningly clear images and action scenes. Despite the camera's compact size, it supports internal 4K 30p recording (QFHD: 3840 x 2160), making it ideal for shooting high-image-quality movies when you're traveling or when you're capturing scenes from daily life.

Make great movies even better

New electronic image stabilization helps you capture great-looking movies, while the Movie Edit add-on for your smartphone achieves smooth images, similar to shooting with a gimbal. The Movie Edit add-on can also keep your subject in-frame automatically, even when you crop movies for smartphone portrait screens and social-media sharing.

Built tough, for worry-free shooting

Super-compact and lightweight, the RX0 II is built to be tough and resilient. Throw it in your bag or carry it from a strap without worries, and use it in settings where you could never shoot before.

Ultra-compact and ready for adventure

The RX0 II is a serious camera in a tiny package. It's easy to carry anywhere you go, and it delivers high-quality images wherever you shoot. Its simple design and lack of protrusions also make it easier to set up, pack and store.

Waterproof/dustproof

Down to 33 feet (10 meters)

Whether you're snorkeling in fresh water or seawater, shooting poolside or out in a thunderstorm, the RX0 II will expand your shooting potential. There's no need to safeguard against rainwater or splashed drinks, and you can also shoot comfortably in desert settings with sand and dust. All without requiring a special waterproof case or additional accessories.

Shockproof

From a height of 6.5 feet (2.0 meters)

Thanks to the shockproof design, you won't need to worry about the occasional accident - the RX0 II's rugged body is built to withstand the impact of a drop from a height of 6.5 feet (2.0 meters).

Crushproof

Up to 440 lbf/200 kgf/2000 N

There's no need for super-delicate treatment - stow the camera comfortably in a carrying bag or a pocket and bring it wherever you go without concern.

Tiltable LCD monitor perfect for selfies

The camera's LCD monitor tilts upward around 180 °, making it easy to frame selfie shots and vlogging sessions. With its waterproof and dustproof design, you can even use it for underwater shots. The monitor also tilts downward, by around 90 °, to help when you're shooting from a high angle.

Extended control with the optional shooting grip

The VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip has integrated controls to let you trip the shutter release and operate the record button and the camera's zoom from the grip itself. The shooting grip can also be converted for use as a tabletop tripod.

External microphone for high-quality sound

In spite of its ultra-compact size, the RX0 II comes equipped with a microphone jack, so you can attach an external mic for better quality sound in your vlogs and movies.

Super slow-motion movies from 960fps/1000fps shooting

Shooting at frame rates of up to 960fps/1000fps captures split-second action and allows you to produce super slow-motion movie scenes. You can even capture in full HD resolution at up to 120fps/100fps.

Interval recording for time-lapse movies

The camera's new interval recording feature enables continuous shooting with a set interval between 1 and 60 seconds. These still images can then be edited into a time-lapse movie on a PC.

Wireless multi-camera control

The perfect setup for casual use with a smartphone

Sony's Imaging Edge Mobile app lets you control multiple cameras from a smartphone or other mobile device. Wireless connectivity gives you greater flexibility in positioning your cameras, which are sturdy and small enough to go nearly anywhere.

Multi-camera shots with a wired connection

Precise, accurate control to meet the needs of a professional workflow

With the optional Camera Control Box (CCB-WD1), you can simultaneously control multiple cameras, monitoring and changing settings remotely from a connected PC. This provides a stable connection to the cameras to facilitate accurate multi-camera synchronization, and it allows immediate file transfer from the cameras for easier file management.

Features

  • The ZEISS® Tessar T* 24-mm F4 lens delivers high-resolution images with reduced peripheral distortion despite its wide-angle design. The improved 20-cm minimum focusing distance is perfect for selfies and shots of tabletop objects, while Clear Image Zoom enables up to 2x zoom with minimal quality loss. Ghosting and flare can be further suppressed with the use of an optional hood , and the surface coating on the front body makes it easier to wipe off water drops and dust.
  • The 1.0-type Exmor RSTM CMOS image sensor is stacked with a dedicated DRAM chip, allowing incredible 1/32,000 sec. shutter speeds that capture movement imperceptible to the human eye. The sensor also enables the camera's impressively wide dynamic range, from ISO 80 to ISO 12800.
  • The latest version of the BIONZ X image-processing engine provides high-resolution images with a wide dynamic range and reduced noise in low-light settings. Images are characterized by more natural details and richer tonal gradations. This improved BIONZ X now also enables internal recording of 4K movies .
  • The rugged, extra-super-duralumin body is smooth and sleek in design, with no protruding parts. Despite being barely larger than a matchbox, it includes a convenient 180°-tiltable LCD monitor and other handy features designed to make shooting stills and movies easier.
  • The camera's tough construction makes it dependable for use in a variety of difficult environments. It is waterproof down to 33 ft/10 m , shock resistant for drops from heights up to 6.5 ft/2.0 m and crushproof under weights of up to 200 kgf/440 lbf/2000 N .
  • The RX0 II supports internal movie recording at up to 4K 30p resolution (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) for when you're travelling or recording vlogs. When shooting 4K movies with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, the camera oversamples around 1.7 times as much information as is required for basic 4K output, delivering outstanding resolution.
  • The newly added electronic image stabilization feature enables stable, steady hand-held shooting of movies.
  • Designed for quick, high-quality social media sharing, the Movie Edit add-on provides automatic image stabilization, producing smoother images similar to what you'd achieve using a gimbal. It also lets you reframe your video to suit various smartphone-friendly aspect ratios while intelligently keeping your main subject in the frame.
  • The camera's sophisticated Eye AF feature is designed to automatically detect and focus on the eyes of the main subjects in your shots. It rapidly and accurately detects eyes, even under difficult conditions, such as when the subject is looking downward or when faces are dimly lit or backlit.
  • Continuous shooting with a set interval between 1 and 60 seconds is now available within the camera. The resulting still images can be edited into a time-lapse movie on a PC using the Viewer in the free Sony Imaging Edge desktop applications. A simple variable-speed preview function allows a draft of the time-lapse movie to be checked on the camera immediately after shooting.
  • Now tilting a full 180° (180° up and 90° down), the LCD monitor is very useful when you're framing selfies and vlog recordings, and it's also handy when you're shooting from a low or a high angle.
  • The VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip attaches easily to the RX0 II and expands your creative potential. With integrated controls, it lets you trip the shutter release and operate the record button and the zoom from the grip itself, and it also transforms into a tabletop mini-tripod.
  • Using built-in Wi-Fi®, RX0 II cameras can be controlled remotely via your smartphone or tablet. Simply download the free Imaging Edge Mobile app to your device to enable remote control of the camera's shutter release and movie recording start and stop. Captured images and 4K movies can also be wirelessly transferred to your device for easy sharing. Bluetooth® is available for remote power on/off and for acquisition of location data.
  • The optional Camera Control Box (CCB-WD1) uses wired LAN connections for synchronized multi-cam shooting, such as when you want to shoot a movie scene from multiple angles. You can combine Box units to control up to 100 RX0 II cameras , turn power on and off, adjust settings and capture photos or videos, all from a web browser on your PC.
  • Dual-camera shooting-simultaneous still or movie capture from your RX0 II and another camera-is now possible using the optional VMC-MM2 Release Cable . With this feature, you can capture decisive moments and one-time events from two different angles or shoot a scene with an alternate frame rate or picture profile with a single press of the shutter release.
  • With S-Log2 recording, the RX0 II offers professionals vastly more post-production flexibility through extended dynamic range capture. Included along with other customizable Picture Profiles, this proprietary gamma setting offers a wide color gamut and reduced risk of blown-out highlights, for easy camera matching and professional results.
  • Shooting in super slow motion at frame rates of up to 960/1000fps captures split-second action in movies. Quality Priority mode can even capture up to HD resolution when shooting at 240/250fps. The end trigger mode lets you capture a decisive moment in super slow motion starting from two or four seconds before the REC button is pressed.
  • For added flexibility in your production workflow, you can use the Clean HDMI output to monitor and record uncompressed video to an external recorder in your choice of formats and bitrates.
  • Despite its large 15.3 MP pixel count, the super-high-speed image sensor achieves readout speeds high enough to enable continuous shooting at up to 16fps, capturing fleeting moments as they happen.
  • Taking full advantage of the Exmor RS sensor's extremely fast readout, the Anti-distortion Shutter is capable of shutter speeds up to 1/32,000 sec. This minimizes any image distortion caused by the rolling shutter phenomenon, which can otherwise distort images of rapidly moving objects.
  • The low-compression XAVC S format is excellent for the production of high-quality movie images with minimal noise, even in very active scenes. The camera also supports the AVCHD format for easy editing and sharing.
  • You can program frequently used functions to any of several customizable buttons in order to tailor the camera to your shooting style. This provides faster access and more intuitive camera operation when you're in the middle of a shoot.
  • When you're shooting close-ups or other situations where very precise focus is called for, you can use MF (manual focus) Assist to magnify the area of focus for more exact adjustments. Additionally, the Peaking function highlights the sharpest, most in-focus areas in your choice of colors, to make manual focusing fast and accurate.
  • The camera's sensitivity range extends from ISO 80 to ISO 12800, giving you the freedom to shoot even in very dimly lit settings. You can use Auto ISO to determine the sensitivity automatically, and set a lower limit to maintain your shutter speed/angle for accurate motion capture.
  • You can choose the internal temperature level at which the camera automatically shuts off power to adapt to your shooting environment. For example, if you're shooting movies with a tripod, shots tend to run longer, so you can set the Auto Power OFF Temperature to "High" to shoot for a longer duration.
  • This product is compatible with Final Cut Pro X and iMovie .
  • Elevate your photography with Imaging Edge desktop applications. Use "Remote" to control and monitor shooting live on your PC screen; "Viewer" to quickly preview, rate, and select photos from large image libraries; and "Edit" to develop RAW data into high-quality photos for delivery. Get the best from Sony RAW files, and manage your productions more efficiently.

Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Electronics can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new electronics should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.
